Another great night for the little golden child. Slept right through until 6:45!
Today has been another day of exploring and investigating. She is beginning to win the collies
round especially my old girl Angel. The other two are still not convinced we need a ginger kid!

Today we started a little bit of training, not that she knew she was training!
Rita, apart from being a very much loved pet will also be trained an emotional support dog to
work with SEMH children (social, emotional and mental health). She will hopefully compete in competitive obedience too. Rita needs to feel safe, confident and trust me. Connection and relationship are the key to successful training.
Video 1
In this video I am looking for Rita to feel safe and comfortable in my space. I want her to be comfortable being touched all over especially her feet, ears and mouth. Whilst playing it is
important to stroke your puppy all over, lifting paws and ears. As you can see by her little tail Rita
has no issues here. 💖
Video 2
This video shows the very first steps to a successful recall. An absolute must for all dogs!
The recall is critical to keep Rita safe. I start by keeping her close turning her away following a treat. I then bring her back into my body with my recall command. I will also be teaching her to
accept my hand in her collar. As she comes into my space I say collar and gently take hold of it whilst praising and rewarding her. Recall starts in the house as a game. I will repeat this little exercise 3-4 times a day. Her training sessions are very play based and last no more that 5 minutes at
a time.
She may not be able to go for walks yet but she needs mental stimulation. As you can see 5 minutes was enough for her at 8 weeks old!
